Cambrian College has over 14,000 students enrolled in full and part-time courses at their three locations in northern Ontario: Barrydowne Campus in Sudbury (main campus), Espanola Campus and Manitoulin Campus.

At Cambrian College, the centre providing accessibility services is called the Glenn Crombie Centre for Student Support. The Glenn Crombie Centre is the primary place to find out about all of your disability related needs.

 

Transition Programs

Cambrian College offers a transition program called Head Start on College for students with disabilites and/or learning challenges. 

 

Psychoeducational Assessment Services 

The Northern Ontario Assessment and Resources Centre (NOARC) on Cambrian College campus provides accurate, comprehensive, and effective assessment in English and follow-up services to students at Cambrian College and other local institutions with Learning Disabilities.

Support Services Available

Health Services

The Medical Clinic at Cambrian College’s Sudbury campus is staffed by a nurse during regular office hours and physicians are available during specific times.

 

Counselling Services

Cambrian College offers Counselling Services through the Glenn Crombie Centre for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

 

Academic Support

The Learning Centre at Cambrian College offers Tutoring Services to students at each campus who are having academic difficulties.

 

Library Services

The Cambrian College Library at the main campus offers various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The library offers services for students such as borrowing services, interlibrary loans, equipment booking, and basic reference assistance guides for students.

 

Academic Advising

Cambrian College has Academic Success Advisors to help students to navigate the services offered at Cambrian, identify individual education, career, and life goals, and develop a plan to reach one's goals. Additionally, students can meet with an advisor if they are in conflict with an instructor, are on academic probation, are considering leaving their program, or have concerns with their courses.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards 

Cambrian College Financial Information offers a range of financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Cambrian College’s Residence Services offers traditional and townhouse style accommodations for up to 677 students at its main campus. Applying for residence operates on a first-come, first-served basis until maximum capacity is reached. Traditional (dormitory) style residence includes 2 private bedrooms, a shared washroom and a shared kitchenette. Townhouse style includes 6 private bedrooms, 2 washrooms, a full kitchen and a shared living space. Building amenities include:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study rooms
  • Common kitchens (traditional residence only)
  • Access to a front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms come furnished and include internet access. Townhouse style accommodations include cable television access. Residence rates vary depending on room and building selection. Meal plans are an additional, optional cost and operate on a declining meal based and flex dollar system. Payment plans are available for residence fees.

Barrier-free rooms are available for students requiring special accommodations. Students who require special accommodations must provide details on the Medical, Accessibility and Special Consideration section of the residence application.

 

Off-Campus Housing

Cambrian College offers Places4Students which is an accommodation listing service where landlords can advertise rental properties available.

Campus Accessibility

Sudbury Transit

Greater Sudbury Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Cambrian College are eligible to purchase a discounted 31 day passSchedules are provided for every transit route that Greater Sudbury Transit provides.

Accessibility

Greater Sudbury Transit offers accessible features on their conventional transit such as low floors, wheel chair ramps, priority seating, and automated stop systems.

GOVA Plus Specialized Transit provides door-to-door transit services for person with disabilities, who are unable to the conventional transit. Users who require a support person are able to apply for a support person pass, which allows Support Persons to travel free of charge. More information about GOVA Plus and the eligibility guidelines and application is available on their website.
