Documentation Requirements

The AccessAbility Centre provides accommodations for students with documented disabilities from an allied health professional. The documentation required is dependent on the student’s disability. Students should contact the AccessAbility Centre regarding the type of documentation required for their specific disability.

Some of the documents you may be asked for include:

  • Medical documentation from a physician confirming your disability
  • An audiology report from a qualified practitioner
  • A psycho-educational assessment from a qualified practitioner diagnosing a learning disability (assessments must be within five years to qualify for the BSWD and reduced course load)
  • Medical documentation from a qualified practitioner diagnosing a mental health illness or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Transition Plans
  • Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) forms

For students that not have the required documentation, or it is out of date, please contact the AccessAbility Centre to discuss.

Support Services Available

Health Services

The Loyalist Student Health Centre at the Belleville campus offers walk-in appointments with a registered nurse, and scheduled appointments with the consulting physician.

 

Counselling Services

Loyalist College offers Counselling Services for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

 

Academic Support

The Student Success Hub at Loyalist College's Belleville campus offers support and resources in one easy, central place. Loyalist College also has Student Success Mentors who can guide students to develop educational plans and identify college resources.

 

Library Services

The Parrot Centre at Loyalist College's Belleville campus offers various resources including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The centre also provides services for students such as borrowing services, inter-library loans, and quiet study rooms.

Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Loyalist College’s Residence Life Office at the Belleville campus offers accommodations for up to 475 students in suite style residences and 104 upper-year students in townhouse style residences. Residence allocation operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Suite style accommodations includes 6 private bedrooms, 2 shared washrooms, a shared kitchen and common living space. Townhouse style accommodations include 4 private bedrooms, 2 washrooms, shared kitchen, laundry facilities and a shared living space. Building amenities for traditional residence include:

  • Common study areas
  • Access to a front desk
  • Maintenance (also included in townhouse style)
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms in residence come furnished and include internet and local telephone service. Residence rates vary depending on room selection and building choice. Meal plans are optional and can be purchased by any student on campus. Meal plans operate on a declining balance system.

Off-Campus Housing

Loyalist College students can access off-campus housing information at Places4Students. Students will find advertisements from landlord on available housing.

Getting Around

Campus Accessibility

Loyalists offers Campus Maps & Directions for the Belleville campus.

 

Belleville Transit

Belleville Transit is comprised of buses.  Full-time students at Loyalist College are eligible for discounted monthly passes. Belleville Transit provides rider guides and schedules to help users navigate through Belleville.

Accessibility

Belleville Transit offer 15 coach buses that provide accessible transit with features such as low floors, ramps, and an automated stop system.

Belleville Transit offers Mobility Plus which provides curb-to-curb transit services for persons with disabilities, who due to their disability are unable to use the conventional transit system. Users who require a support person are able to apply for a Mobility Plus Card, which allows Support Persons to travel free of charge. Persons looking to use Mobility Plus must complete the application form
