General Information

Centennial College serves 18,000 full-time and 20,000 part-time students at its campuses in the Greater Toronto Area: Ashtonbee campus, Downsview campus, Morningside campus, Progress campus, and Story Arts Centre campus.  Centennial also has 2 additional learning sites: Eglinton and Pickering learning sites.

At Centennial College, the office providing accessibility services to students is called the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services. The Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services is the primary place to find out about all of your disability related needs.

 

Transition Program 

Centennial College offers a transition program at their 4 main campuses for students with learning disabilities called headSTART.

Counselling Services

Centennial College offers Counselling Services for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

 

Academic Support 

The Learning Centres at Centennial College's 4 main campuses offer tutoring services, review sessions and online help for all students.

 

Library Services

Centennial College libraries offer library and tutoring services at each main campus, and are able to provide assistance to students with disabilities to access the resources. 

 

Academic Advising 

Centennial Advising and Pathways Services (CAPS) has academic advisors to support incoming and current students in identifying their goals, creating a plan for success, and connecting with faculty and students services at Centennial College.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards

Centennial College’s Financial Aid offers a range of  financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Centennial College’s Residence Office offers traditional style accommodation in single and double occupancy rooms at the Progress campus. Residence operates on a first-come, first-served basis until maximum capacity is reached. Traditional style rooms include single or double bedrooms with a communal washroom. Building amenities include:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study areas
  • Communal kitchen
  • Access to a 24/7 front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms come furnished and include internet and local telephone service. Residence rates vary depending on room selection and payment plans are available for residence fees. Meal plans are not currently offered.

The residence is fully accessible for people with disabilities. In order to arrange for accommodations or special needs in residence, students are asked to contact the Residence and Conference Centre.

Campus Accessibility

Centennial offers Campus maps and parking information for each campus.

 

Toronto Transit

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is comprised of subways, buses, and streetcars. A discounted Post-Secondary Student Monthly Metro Pass is available for purchase for full-time students at Centennial College. Schedules and maps are provided for each of the TTC transit options.

Accessibility

The TTC offers accessible services on both their buses and subways. Accessible services on buses include kneeling features, ramps, lifts, automated next stop announcements, wheel chair and scooter positions, and priority seating. The subways provide accessible services such as wheel chair positions and priority seating. There are elevators at half of the subway stations, with the goal of the remaining stations to be accessible by 2025.

The TTC offers the Support Person Assistance Card which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost. Persons interested in the support program must fill out the application form.

Wheel-Trans is a service that provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with physical disabilities. The TTC has established eligibility guidelines for the use of Wheel-Trans. Persons seeking to use Wheel-Trans must participate in an in-person interview.
