Lakehead University’s Residence and Housing Office offers on-campus housing at both campuses. The Orillia campus offers traditional style accommodation for 271 students in environmentally sustainable buildings. All rooms are private and share a bathroom with one other student. Residence operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The Thunder Bay campus offers three styles of residence: traditional residence style, apartment style, and townhouse style. Traditional residence halls feature double and single bedrooms with communal washrooms. Townhouse style accommodations, which are reserved for upper year students, feature units with 4 private bathrooms, shared washrooms and a shared kitchen. Apartment style residence offers multiple bedrooms, a shared washroom, shared kitchenette and shared living spaces. Building amenities for both campuses include:

- Access to a 24/7 front desk
- Laundry facilities
All rooms include internet access, local telephone service, and cable television access. For students at the Thunder Bay campus, meal plans are included in the residence fees and operate on a set number of meals per week and a declining “flex dollar” system. For students at the Orillia campus, residence rates vary and include a mandatory meal plan. Meal plans operate on a declining balance system.

Thunder Bay Transit
Thunder Bay Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Lakehead University receive a Universal Bus Pass (U-Pass), which provides unlimited access to Thunder Bay Transit, included in their tuition. Maps and schedules are provided for every transit route that Thunder Bay Transit provides.
Thunder Bay Transit offers accessible transit with features such as low floors, kneeling capabilities, priority seating, and automated call stop announcements. Thunder Bay Transit offers a Support Person Pass, which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost.

Orillia Transit busses have some accessible features, such as a designated area for wheelchairs on buses. The Orillia Wheelchair Limousine Service (O.W.L.S.) is a door-to-door service for persons who require wheelchair accessible transit services. If a person requires a personal care or assistant to ride with them, they are asked to arrange their own support person, who will travel free of charge.
