Transition Programs
Nipissing University offers a free, three-day transition program at the North Bay campus for students with disabilities called Accessibility Transition Program (ATP).

In order to access accommodations at Nipissing University, the following documentation is required to show proof of a disability:
- Learning Disabilities: A psycho-educational assessment completed by a registered psychologist is required (completed within the last 4 years, or since the student has been 18 years old)
- ADHD: A psychoeducational assessment or the SAS Medical Documentation form for Mental Health and ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder: A psychoeducational assessment or formal letter from a health care practitioner is preferred. If unavailable, students can use the SAS Medical Documentation form for Mental Health and ADHD
- Medical and Physical Condititions, Hearing or Visual Impairments, Acquired Brain Injury: completion of the SAS Medical Documentation form for Mental Health and ADHD is strongly encouraged
- Mental Health Disorders: SAS Medical Documentation form for Mental Health and ADHD

Health Services
The Campus Health Centre provides medical services and health care to Nipissing University students.
Counselling Services
Nipissing University offers Student Counselling Services for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.
Orientation
Nipissing University offers a one-day orientation program for all new students and their supporters, call New Student Orientation (NSO).
Library Services
At Nipissing University, the Harris Learning Library in North Bay offers various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The library also provides services to students such as borrowing books, interlibrary loan, and finding course reserves. The library has an adaptive technology lab for students with disabilities.
Academic Advising
Nipissing University’s Academic Advising service assists students in planning their program or with other academic matters, including: choosing courses, clarifying requirements, planning around medical absences and more.

On-Campus Housing
Nipissing University’s Residence Office offers townhouse and suite style residence at both their North Bay campus and Muskoka campus. Residence is guaranteed to all incoming high school students who are offered full-time admission. Townhouse style accommodations include 6 private bedrooms, 3 washrooms, a shared kitchen and a shared living space. Suite style accommodations include 4 bedrooms, 2 washrooms, a shared kitchen and a shared living space. Building amenities include:
- Common lounges
- Common study rooms
- Games room
- Access to a front desk
- Maintenance
- Laundry facilities
All rooms come furnished and include internet access, local telephone service, and cable television access. Residence rates vary depending on residence style and room selection. Meal plans are available to all students but are not mandatory.
A select number of barrier-free rooms are available. To have access to accommodations in residence, students must fill out the Residence Special Accommodations form.
Off-Campus Housing
Nipissing University connects its students with Off-Campus Living options and provides a place where landlords can advertise available accommodation.

North Bay Transit
North Bay Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Nipissing University receive a bus pass included in their tuition. Routes and schedules are provided for every transit route that North Bay Transit provides.
Accessibility
Twenty-two of North Bay Transit’s buses are buses with features such as low floors, priority and courtesy seating. North Bay Transit allows one companion to travel with a rider free of charge.
The ParaBus Service is a door-to-door transit service for persons with physical disabilities who are unable to ride on the conventional buses. Persons who require a support person ride with them are able to do so, at their own cost. More information about Para-Bus and the eligibility guidelines and application is available on their website.
