At the Scarborough Campus, AccessAbility Services is the office to provide accessibility services for students. This office is the primary place to find out about all of your disability related needs.

Support Services Available

HEALTH SERVICES

The Health and Wellness Centre at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus offers students the same services as a family doctor’s office.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

The University of Toronto offers Counselling Services for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

The University of Toronto offers free academic services including workshops and tutoring at the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

LIBRARY SERVICES

The University of Toronto Scarborough Library offers various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The library also provides services for students such as borrowing and renewing services, course reserves, and technology lending. The University of Scarborough Library offers accessible materials, resource, and facilities for persons with disabilities.

ACADEMIC ADVISING

The University of Toronto Scarborough offers Academic Advising services, providing advising, learning skills and career counselling services to students.

University of Toronto offers a range of financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement for students on the Scarborough campus.   

Residence and Housing

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING

 

The University of Toronto Scarborough Campus’ Housing Office offers townhouse and apartment style accommodations for students. First year students are guaranteed residence for the first two years of their studies if they apply by the given deadline. Townhouse style accommodations consist of 4-6 private bedrooms, shared washrooms, a kitchen, and shared living space. Apartment style accommodations consist of 3-4 bedrooms units with two washrooms, a full kitchen and a living/dining room. All building amenities include:

  • Common study areas
  • Access to a front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All buildings come furnished and include internet access, local telephone service, laundry facilities, and maintenance. Residence rates vary depending on building and room selection. Meal plans are optional and operate on a declining balance system. Several different styles of meal plan are available.

Several barrier-free residences are available. Students requiring special accommodations must complete the Access Needs in Residence Form when applying for residence.

 

OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING

The University of Toronto offers a housing and roommate finder service as well as tips on tenant issues and dealing with landlords through their Off-Campus Housing Office.

Getting Around

CAMPUS ACCESSIBILITY

University of Toronto offers maps and locations for each campus.

TORONTO TRANSIT

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is comprised of subways, buses, and streetcars. A discounted Post-Secondary Student Monthly Metro Pass is available for purchase for full-time students at the University of Toronto. Schedules and maps are provided for each of the TTC transit options.

Accessibility
The TTC offers accessible services on both their buses and subways. Accessible services on buses include kneeling features, ramps, lifts, automated next stop announcements, wheel chair and scooter positions, and priority seating. The subways provide accessible services such as wheel chair positions and priority seating. There are elevators at half of the subway stations, with the goal of the remaining stations to be accessible by 2025.

The TTC offers the Support Person Assistance Card which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost. Persons interested in the support program must fill out the application form.

Wheel-Trans is a service that provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with physical disabilities. The TTC has established eligibility guidelines for the use of Wheel-Trans. Persons seeking to use Wheel-Trans must participate in an in-person interview.
