Transition Programs

At George Brown Polytechnic, they offer transition programs to help students prepare for their path to college. They run two programs called Transition to Success, and Roadmap to Success: Driving Your Own Academic Journey in College.

Health Services

George Brown does not have a Health Services clinic, however they do provide Off-Campus Resources to students. 

Counselling Services

George Brown College offers Counselling for any student who is seeking support and guidance in navigating emotions, mental health challenges, well-being, and/or stressful life events.

Peer Mentoring

George Brown has a Peerconnect program that aims to enhance student well-being and success by offering one-on-one coaching, events, weekly activities, online resources and workshops at every George Brown campus.

Academic Support

George Brown Polytechnic offers peer tutoring and other learning supports through the Tutoring and Learning Centre at each of their campuses to students who are having academic difficulties.

Library Services

The Library Learning Commons, on the Casa Loma, St. James, and Waterfront campuses, offers services that enable library users who have a disability or are Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing to access library services and resources effectively. The goal of the Library Learning Commons is to make all learning materials and services accessible. Students who experience accessibility barriers are asked to contact the library staff and can access the Accessible Library Services.

George Brown Polytechnic’s Financial Aid office offers a range of  financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

George Brown Polytechnic offers fully furnished, two-bedroom apartments in their on-campus residence, The George.  Suites include a kitchenette, three-piece bathroom, and two bedrooms, along with communal space on every floor and 24-hour staff.  

Off-Campus Housing

Students attending George Brown Polytechnic can contact the Housing Office on campus for assistance in finding off-campus housing. Students can also explore George Brown Polytechnic's affiliate residence; Parkside.

Toronto Transit

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is comprised of subways, buses, and streetcars. A discounted Post-Secondary Student Monthly Metro Pass is available for purchase for full-time students at Centennial College. Schedules and maps are provided for each of the TTC transit options.

Accessibility

The TTC offers accessible services on both their buses and subways. Accessible services on buses include kneeling features, ramps, lifts, automated next stop announcements, wheel chair and scooter positions, and priority seating. The subways provide accessible services such as wheel chair positions and priority seating. There are elevators at 67 out of the 70 TTC subway stations, while the remaining are waiting to be upgraded. 

The TTC offers the Support Person Assistance Card which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost. Persons interested in the support program must fill out the application form.

Wheel-Trans is a service that provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with physical disabilities. The TTC has established eligibility guidelines for the use of Wheel-Trans. Persons seeking to use Wheel-Trans must participate in an in-person interview.
