Laurentian University is a bilingual university with locations in Sudbury in Ontario. Laurentian University provides educational opportunities to 9,700 full-time and part-time students. Laurentian University has five faculties and schools, each with their own academic programs and departments:

Health and Wellness Services at Laurentian University offers health and medical care provided by nurse practitioners and part-time physicians.

Counselling Services

Laurentian University's offers Counselling & Support Programs for any student who is seeking support and guidance in navigating emotions, mental health challenges, well-being, and/or stressful life events.

Academic Support

The Student Success Centre offers a range of support to students, including peer tutoring, writing assistance, workshops and culturally-centered academic support networks for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students.

Library Services

The J.N Desmarais Library & Archive at Laurentian University offers various resources for students including books, journal articles, and e-books. Library services include research help and general information, interlibrary loans, and research skills tutorials. The J.N Desmarais Library & Archive works in conjunction with Accessibility Services to provide students with disabilities accessible materials, technologies, and facilities.

Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Laurentian University’s Residence Office offers 8 different residences in traditional and apartment style accommodations on the Sudbury campus. If you are currently enrolled in a Canadian high school and plan to attend Laurentian in the Fall of 2026, you can take advantage of Laurentian’s residence accommodation guarantee which pertains to your first two years of study. Traditional style residence features single or double rooms with communal washrooms. Apartment style includes multiple bedrooms, a shared washroom, a shared kitchen and shared living room. All buildings include the following amenities:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study rooms
  • Common kitchens
  • Computer labs
  • Games rooms
  • Access to a 24/7 front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms in residence come furnished and include internet, local telephone service, and cable television. Residence rates vary depending on residence choice and room style. Mandatory meal plans are an additional cost and work on a declining balance system with a set number of meals for the year.

Laurentian University offers several barrier-free rooms for students requiring special accommodations. Students can apply for barrier-free rooms by contacting the Residence Office on campus.

Sudbury Transit

Greater Sudbury Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Laurentian College receive a bus pass included in their tuition. Schedules are provided for every transit route that Greater Sudbury Transit provides.

Accessibility

Greater Sudbury Transit offers accessible features on their conventional transit such as low floors, wheel chair ramps, priority seating, and automated stop systems.

GOVA Plus Specialized Transit provides door-to-door transit services for person with disabilities, who are unable to use the conventional transit. Users who require a support person are able to apply for a support person pass, which allows Support Persons to travel free of charge.
